A Day in My World

Helllllo and happiest Thursday!!

So, today's post originally drew its inspiration from the following scenario:

- A friend of a friend reached out about a potential career in real estate. At the time, she was a single mom and worked a 9-5 office job and needed more flexibility in her schedule- especially while her children were so young. (I got into real estate as a single mama as well). We talked and discussed the pros and cons and whether or not real estate was something she wanted to pursue.

Well, fast forward to our recent awards ceremony that included company vision/goals/etc with a little career in real estate "passport" sitting at our tables from our marketing department, and I thought, "how about I just share a "typical" day of my life as a Realtor! Now, please don't get me wrong, just about every day looks a little different, but there are several constants and habits that I've picked up along the way- (that I learned the hard way- because routine is not a second nature kind of thing for me).

Ummm... Hi, my name is Jill and my life is all over everywhere, but with a little (lot) extra thought, a Lilly Pulitzer planner, electronic software for work and a Type A husband to help, I (sort of) keep afloat.

Ok, let's get going!! Please note that I chose a "non kid week" to document. (Although, on the day I documented- I ended up with kiddos for a bit. More on that later...)

At 5:00, our alarm goes off...  and we fight the snooze button until 5:30.

I'm back to drinking old fashioned coffee out of a coffee maker- my Keurig started to weird me out and I quit using it months ago. I'm on the hunt for a coffee maker than can make espressos too. What are your favorites!?! Please leave all your suggestions in the comments!!

Ahhh... coffee + coconut milk + cinnamon.

I'm just sooooo pretty in the mornings . Ha! got to love snap chat :)
Non kid mornings are much quieter and much more depressing than kid weeks. No waking sleepy girls up, making breakfasts, cleaning messes, getting school snacks together, loading the car up and dropping off to school, etc. There's no crazy chaos and I miss them terribly.

This guy shows up every morning. He doesn't get out of bed until I do- regardless of who's up at the time :)

And then there's this. Little notes left on my desk... and all I want to do is cry...

My office is located in my laundry room- and I switch a load out every morning. If I don't do laundry in the mornings, my laundry pile gets out of control and I'm behind for the week. This goes for the dishes too..

I found this HB acylic folder at a thrift store. Love it! These are my "active" files that require something... like a signature, missing form, etc.

I'll get some work done (emails, prospecting, blog stuff, bills, etc...) while eating breakfast and I've gotten into a routine of doing 30 min of Pilates at home too. I usually work out from about 10-10:30.

Speaking of, I need new workout ideas. Last year, I joined a local barre studio and while I loved it- I just didn't show up as often as I wanted- and I've found working out at home to be sooo much more convenient. I thought about joining a challenge group of some sort, but really don't know where to start. I've loved Blogilates (Cassey Ho is the founder and soooooo much fun to follow) but always looking for new ideas. What do you like- as far as yoga/pilates!? Would love to hear!!

So- while its technically a non kid week, the girls were on Winter break and Jinger was coming to hang for the afternoon. Anywho, I received an email from Gymboree and Janie + Jack about doing a collaboration for their President's Day Sale on House Blend the previous morning and called Sophias step mama to see if we could meet a take a few photos of kiddos dressed up. The stars had aligned because I was able to get Jinger, Sophia, Sophia's brothers AND their Aunt "Coco" together- Aunt Coco has a professional camera and offered to take the pictures!

Here's Jinger and I- showered, dressed and en route to meet the gang:)

Woohooo!!!! "Smile if you want ice cream!!!" #notabovebribing

Cute kiddos... who are way over changing in and out of clothes.
It was a fun little afternoon.  A very special thank you to Coco for the beautiful photos :)

PS- Moms of littles- Gymboree is still 40% off the entire store. It's just for a limited time- shop the sale here. {affiliate link}

After we wrapped up with photos, we piled into cars and had lunch at Chick Fil A...

... and then came home to get ready for an afternoon closing.

BTW- ladies, you neeeeeed this Loft infinity scarf. Soooooo pretty and soft and cozy and comes in two other colors and is on clearancce for less than $7. So, yeah. Go treat yourself :)

We ran into my office and Jinger made sweet notes :)

We finished the closing, dropped closing docs to my office and then came home to a great mail delivery day :) :) :) I'm currently obsessed with BAUBLEBAR!!!! I could sit and stare at their selection of earrings all day. Seriously... obsessed. #sorryjason
Earrings avail here. #happyearlybirthdaytome

I made a quick run through Starbucks, ordered a Pike Place and a water and sat down to finish up some work and plan for tomorrow. At this hour, I like to answer emails, work on blog posts, and organize paperwork etc.

Jason came home at about 7, and we had salads and chit chatted and I completely forgot to take a pic. Ooops.

And finished up the day reading this book. I am llloooovvvinngggg reading it. I think you should have it on your reading list, too. One of those "must reads..."

So, there you have it. A regular ole day in the life of me. If you're interested in a career in real estate, or have questions in general, please feel free to shoot me an email. Thanks for reading HB today, enjoy your day! XOXO

What's Up Wednesday!

What's Up Wednesday!

I'm linking up and sharing what's up around here.. if you blog, grab the graphic and play along! These posts are fun to look back on :)

On the last Wednesday of each month, we answer the following questions:

Let's get started!!

What we're eating this week:

Well, speaking of, how about my last Whole30 Update!

In case you missed my previous updates, catch up on days 1-7 here and Days 8-15 here.

Well, today marks my official "last day" of Whole30. I'm using the word "last day" loosely here because I feel the need to be totally transparent with you: I made a conscious decision to cheat a few times. I realize cheating goes against all the rules of Whole30, but let's be real for a minute- one week was spent on vacation in Key West, and then last weekend was my 30th birthday. So basically, shame on me for thinking I could do Whole30 while celebrating big life events. #ohwell

Despite the fact that I cheated, I learned soooooo much about myself and my relationship with food and how certain foods affect my body. For instance- I have confirmed that dairy products and foods containing gluten are not my friend and blame them for bloating, acne, weight gain and headaches. I didn't drink milk prior to Whole30 but I could eat my weight in cheese and half and half in my coffee. Sugar makes me feel disgusting and I couldn't believe the amount of added sugars in so many foods. For anyone considering doing the Whole30, I would absolutely recommend it- I gained nothing but insight into what causes inflammations in my body, what makes me feel gross- and I lost a total of 6.5 pounds. If you want to know more or have questions, feel free to email me.

Here's a few photos that I took:

This stuff is SOOOOOO good- no added sugar either. I found it in the natural section of Kroger.

Breakfast one day was fruit + almond butter + cinnamon.

I'm the only one in my family that likes to eat brussel sprouts- I bought them frozen and then sauteed with avodcado oil + balsamic vinegar.

The BEST sparkling water out there!!!

Scrambled eggs with mushroom and onion and a side of apple slices.

What I'm reminiscing about:

Ohhhhhhh my gosh I had the best girls weekend celebrating my 30th with my mom and sisters. My mom pampered and spoiled us completely- seriously- the most relaxing weekend I've ever had. Massages, nails, drybar, swanky downtown hotel, and then dinner and room service for coffee + breakfast on Sunday. I am incredibly lucky and so thankful to be surrounded by so much love. On Sunday afternoon, we met the kiddos and saw The Little Mermaid play and it was just awesome. I'll share more details in another post, but here are a few highlights from the weekend:

 What I'm Loving

Our weather has been sooooooo gorgeous!! Loooooove it.  And you what else I love...

... the cutest shot glass ever :) Ha!  #thankslili

What we've been up to:

Well, other than a spa birthday weekend, we're back to the same ole same ole around here. I documented "a day in the life of a real estate agent" last Thursday - I'll share my in an upcoming post :)

It went... #somethinglikethat

What I'm dreading

I suppose I'm dreading Sunday switch over day :(

What I'm working on

I saw this on Pinterest the other day and had to laugh...

Well, I've been working on work! On this particular day, this gal was on Winter break and accompanied me on a closing. Love that little assistant!

What I'm watching/reading

Watching The Bachelor and reading this book:

... find it on Amazon here. So far I'm loving it!! My favorite is the first sentence on the back: "Have you ever felt like there's something holding you back? Maybe that something is you...."

What I'm listening to:

Soooo...... ummmmm last weekend, Allie had the best music playing in our hotel room.. and it was none other than "The Thong Song" Pandora station.  Soooooo gooood!!!! I haven't stopped listening to 90's rap since. Is that wrong!?!? #dontwannaberight

What I'm wearing:

The potion of this post is sponsored by ShareASale on behalf of Gymboree and Janie and Jack, however, all opinions and thoughts expressed are my own.

I'm going to switch this up to what kiddos are wearing. Because last week, we partnered with Gymboree and Janie and Jack to model some seriously cute Spring clothes for their Presidents Day Sale. And friends, for a limited time, your entire purchase at Gymboree is 40% off!!

Yahooooo!!! Time to stock up on Spring items...

I posted that boomerang video to Instagram- the girls clothes are part of the "Kitty in Pink" collection and I think both of those dresses are under $15 each. Aren't they adorable!!! Jinger can't get enough of that leopard dress.

Kids clothes in the pic above are from Gymboree's Wildflower weekend, sunglasses are here and my pink scarf is on final sale for less than $7 here :) That scarf is sooooo soft and is avail in dark grey and white too :)
What I'm Doing this Weekend

Well, we've got a several birthday parties to attend, a sleepover with Lili, and hopefully sleeping in :)

What I'm looking forward to next month:

Ohhhh, I am sooooo looking forward to March Madness!!!

That's it for this month's What's Up Wednesday! Thanks for reading and I'll see you back here tomorrow! XOXO
